ROOIBANK 

The sand dunes at Rooibank are majestic, changing colour as the day progresses; red in the morning and afternoon hours and beige at mid-day. This dynamic gives the filmmaker a variety of backdrop from one single location. Tirza, Dude You're Screwed (Survival Program) and commercials were all shot here. 

LOGISTICS 

Nestled in the Erongo Region with the nearest International Airport being the Walvis Bay Airport and Walvis Bay the nearest town, a mere 10 minute  drive from the airport. The nearest Private Hospital from set, is the Walvis Bay Welwitschia Hospital and nearest suppliers from set are also in Walvis Bay. 

TRAVEL TERRAIN & TRANSPORT: 

Basecamp is accessible on gravel road so normal 2x4 vehicles are suitable. To set (inside the dune fields) 4x4 dune sand terrain, which means only 4 wheel drive vehicles. Rooibank is nestled in the Namib Naukluft National Park and falls under the Toppenaar Conservancy area, therefore a Location Permission from Ministry of Environment & Tourism plus the Toppenaar Conservancy Permit authorisation is needed. These applications can take up to 2 weeks + to process.

RESTRICTIONS 

No animals are allowed into the park and no drone filming. In some cases no Special Effects are allowed and driving is restricted to designated off-road areas.
